Inventory

An Avatar's inventory consists of all items that the Avatar is carrying, which includes

  • Gold (the coin used as currency) - Gold is always in your inventory (i.e. it cannot be stored elsewhere).
  • Items equipped on your Character Sheet (these items do not show in your inventory window).
  • Items listed in your Inventory Window (some of these items may be hidden if you opted to hide them).

Items Equipped on your Character Sheet[edit]

The Character Sheet can be opened by pressing the "C" key or by clicking on the Shield/Swords icon in the upper right of the game window. Items equipped on your Character Sheet are considered to be in your inventory even though they are not listed in the inventory window. If you unequip an item, then it will disappear from your Character Sheet and appear in the inventory window.

Inventory Window[edit]

The Inventory window can be opened by pressing the "I" key or by clicking on the backpack icon in the upper right of the game window. Note that items equipped on your Character Sheet do not show up on the list of items in the inventory window (see above).

At the bottom of the inventory window, the following additional information is shown:

  • Your Gold amount
  • "Weight" (which is shown as two values that are separated by a "/") - The first value is your Encumbrance (i.e. how much weight you are currently carrying). The second value is your Encumbrance Capacity.

Text Color in Your Inventory Window[edit]

  • White - an item that has none of the properties depicted by the colored text below (if this item is a recipe, then the white title text also indicates that you have already learned the recipe).
  • Blue - a Recipe that you have not learned (i.e. it is not in your Recipe Book).
  • Orange - an item that has been renamed by a player.
  • Brown - an artifact that is not locked to your inventory.
  • Yellow - a Quest Item. †
  • Gray - an equipped tool. †
  • Green (with no lock icon) - a No Trade item that is not renamed.
  • Green Lock Icon.png - a non-artifact or artifact that is locked to your inventory and not renamed. †
  • Red - the item cannot be interacted with because of a de-synchronization issue with the game server (if this issue does not resolve within a few minutes, it will often resolve if you restart the game).
† Quest items, equipped tools, and locked items can be shown or hidden by clicking on the cog in the upper right of the inventory window, then selecting the desired option. If you cannot see these items in your inventory list, make sure you select the "show" option.
Note: Quest Items and Locked items are confined to your inventory. No Trade items can be moved out of your inventory with some restrictions.

Locking an Item in your Inventory Lock Icon.png[edit]

When an item is locked in your inventory, you cannot remove the item from your inventory; therefore, the locked item cannot be sold, traded, consumed, salvaged, or used in crafting (but it can be equipped). This feature can help prevent you from accidentally removing, selling, trading, or destroying an item that you wish to keep in your inventory.

To lock an item in your inventory, right-click on the item and select "Lock To Inventory". To unlock an item from your inventory, right-click the item and select "Unlock From Inventory".

When you lock an item in your inventory, a small padlock Lock Icon.png will show in the lower right of the item's icon. For an item that has not been renamed, the item's title text will turn green when it is locked in your inventory.

Rules and Limitations Regarding Locking[edit]

  • You can only lock items that are not in a container (i.e. the item must be in the highest level of your inventory).
  • If you lock a container, the items inside that container are not locked in your inventory.
  • You can lock many different types of items (if they are not in a container), including a Tradeable item, a No Trade item, a container, an Artifact, a renamed item, a Quest Item, an equipped tool, etc.
  • Currently, Shroud of the Avatar's PVP is No Ransom, so your locked items cannot be removed for ransom. However, if ransom is turned back on in the future, then it is important to know that locked items could then be taken from you in PVP if another player stole the item from you or took the item as ransom.

Show/Hide Items in Your Inventory[edit]

You can opt to show or hide Quest Items, equipped Tools, and/or locked items in your inventory window. Click on the cog icon in the upper right of the Inventory Window, then select the desired option. If you cannot find something in your inventory, make sure you have the appropriate "show" setting selected so that the item will be visible.
